The First Tote

The First Tote

In December 2016, I took a one-way flight to Boston.

Without knowing a soul in the city, I quickly found comfort in simple joys. I spent my time exploring the historical streets, watching the ducks in the Public Garden, and admiring the sailboats from the shore. After six days in the city, I started a blog called Mindful in Style to share my thoughts and unconventional lifestyle, accompanied by the photos I had taken along my walks.

Mindfulness was the pillar of my life in Massachusetts- especially after a rather chaotic existence in New York. Boston was the city where I learned to slow down, embrace the world around me, and focus on the quality in my life- not the quantity.

After nearly three years, I had gathered hundreds of photos and memories of Massachusetts. My roommate at the time was an artist and had recently shown me a few of her pieces on shoes and t-shirts. Designing tote bags and accessories had always been a dream of mine for years- and that was just the beginning.
My first tote bag was created from a photo I took along the Charles River Esplanade and came to life summer 2019. From there, I began creating pillow designs, journals, blankets, and clothing.

Ready for the next chapter, I left Boston a few months later, returning to my hometown of Traverse City, Michigan. 2020 brought an entirely new wave of energy into my life- and to the world- leaving me with extra time to paint, create, and experiment.

Even though I said goodbye to Boston, I still carry a piece of the city with me- because wherever you go, there you are.
